Motion Sensor Alarm

Motion Sensor Alarms

One of the most recent innovations in home security systems are motion sensor alarms. These alarms get activated when there is a change in the energy levels or any motion or movement in the vicinity of installation. Motion sensor alarms operate on passive infrared (IR) technology and the device sends out IR signals in the area in which it is installed in several layers. The top layer goes the furthest to an approximate distance of about 60 meters while the side IR layers range to about 35 meters. Each beam individually measures the temperature of the object they land on and the moment there is a change in the object’s temperature, the security alarm gets automatically activated. The passive motor sensor alarms do not result in false alarms as they have a microchip installed in them that automatically adjusts itself for small and minor temperature changes and help avoid raising an unnecessary false alarm.

Motion sensor alarms available in the market:

1.    Indoor motion sensor alarms: These alarms are to be installed in an enclosed area and use infrared or passive infrared technology to detect any motion or change in the energy levels of a particular room or area. Such alarms not only alert one of the presence of a person but also the absence of a person in an enclosed area.

2.    Outdoor motion sensor alarms: These are generally installed at the entrance of a house, in passage-ways and drive-ways and help inform of any unwanted entry in the house. The sensors are attached to a camera that captures the images and sends them to a TV or computer monitor so that the same can be viewed from inside the house to know of any potential threat.

3.    Pet immune motion sensor alarms: Many motion sensor alarms get falsely activated in households that have pets as the movement of pets also triggers the alarms. However, pet immune sensor alarms help one avoid the chances of a false alarm as they are enabled in manner so as to avoid small movements and small changes in the energy levels due to the presence of small animals.

4.    Outdoor motion sensor alarms with lights: Such motion sensor alarms come attached with flood lights. Once the sensors present in the device sense a motion or change in the heat levels of the area where they are installed, the lights attached to the sensor automatically switch on to ward-off any unwanted intrusion. Such devices also help one find the way preventing them from groping in the dark as the lights automatically switch on when a movement is traced.

Why a Motion Sensor

It is, however, very essential to mount or place the motor sensor alarms in an area that provides them maximum coverage. They can be mounted on the ceilings for a 360 degree exposure and coverage. As the infrared channels cannot penetrate through the walls and furniture fittings, it is essential to ensure that their view is not obstructed by any such fixture (doors, windows, shelving etc.) for accurate results.

If strategically installed, motion sensor alarms are a great way to protect your home from any unwanted intrusion attack. So wait no further and get a sensor alarm installed to let go of the tension regarding your family’s well-being with these intelligent motion sensor alarms.
